I Promise Myself (The Optimist’s Creed) – by Christian D. Larson
I promise myself…
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
– Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them
Written by Christian Larson in 1912 and referenced by The Secret (by Rhonda Byrne), the poem is also known as “The Optimist’s Creed”. Even after a century has passed, the principles advocated in this poem strongly resonates the Law of Attraction and positive living. I believe that this creed is something that everyone is able to work towards, and in time apply all its principle to enhance our daily lives.
The Man Who Thinks He Can – by Walter D. Wintle
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t;
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the word we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will,
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outcasted, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.
– Walter D. Wintle
There have been many different versions of this poem being shared across the Internet. Some with variations in the wording with different authors and titles like “Thinking”, “The Victor”. Based on my research the original poem was written by Walter D. Wintle in the 20th century (do let me know if I’m wrong!).
Regardless of its origins, the central message behind this masterpiece remains the same: a man can think himself into victory simply with the power of believe. Herein lies the age old secret in mastering the Law of Attraction, any man who masters the power of thought can control his future and manifest any reality that he so chooses to create.
We Are Gods In The Chrysalis – by Elbert Hubbard
Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the
crown of the head high, & fill the lungs to the utmost;
drink in the sunshine; greet your friends with a smile, &
put soul into every handclasp.
Do not fear being misunderstood & do not waste a minute
thinking about your enemies. Try to fix firmly in your mind
what you would like to do; & then without veering off
direction, you will move straight to the goal.
Keep your mind on the great & splendid things you would like
to do, & then, as the days go gliding by, you will find
yourself unconsciously seizing upon the opportunities that
are required for the fulfilment of your desire, just as the
coral insect takes from the running tide the element it
needs.
Picture in your mind the able, earnest, useful person you
desire to be, & the thought you hold is hourly transforming
you into the particular individual…
Thought is supreme. Preserve a right mental attitude — the
attitude of courage, frankness, & good cheer.
To think right is to create. All things come through desire
& every sincere prayer is answered. We become like that on
which our hearts are fixed.
Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the
crown of the head high. We are gods in the chrysalis.
– Elbert Hubbard
This is actually one of my favorite poems with deep rooted meaning in the Law of Attraction behind the lines that we see. You can read a more detailed explanation of We Are Gods In The Chrysalis by Elbert Hubbard here.
Thoughts are Things – by Joe Rapisarda
Whatever you think, whatever you feel
Doesn’t matter if it’s make-believe, or real.
Thoughts are things that go out into the unknown
To bring you back whatever you’ve sown.
Positive thoughts vibrate high,
While negative thoughts vibrate low.
Just focus on your own thoughts to see how your future will go.
You see, your thoughts are a map of where you are headed,
And your feelings decide if that direction is welcome,
Or if it is dreaded.
So change how you think to change how you feel,
And watch how the universe attracts to you,
That which you have made real.
– Joe Rapisarda
This poem was actually written with inspiration from a dream. It reflects how are thoughts are infused with energies that serve to attract the very future that we create for ourselves. You can read more about Joe’s inspiration here.
The Archer – by Alison Stormwolf
I take out my arrow
Of unfinished dreams and desires
And place it firmly in the bow
Of my determination
Aim it at the starlit sky,
Such amazing power
Behind the action…
Totally pure intention
And, as my prayers
Ascend the night sky.. transverse
Mother Moon in silhouette
The planets call out in unison
“She knows her path!”
We will assist our sister”
I can close my eyes
And in that deep place
Where day has cast aside my worries
Can rest assured and protected,
The universe is on my side
What now can scare me?
– Alison Stormwolf
