When you think positively, you are more likely to enjoy positive results. Positive thinking allows you to do everything better than negative thinking will.
For years, scholars and academics have documented the benefits that positive thinking has on our mental states, overall well-being, health and even real-life outcomes.
Negative thinking contributes to defeat, indecision, and lack of enthusiasm or passion to chase your goals.
Why Should You Think Positive Instead of Negative Thoughts
Positive Thinking | Negative Thinking |
---|---|
– Greater feelings of satisfaction – Higher productivity – More likely to get positive results – Better spirits, confidence and control over emotions – You feel empowered, rejuvenated and ready to take on the world – You spread your positive influence to others around you – Your subconscious mind is more likely to act in a way that will achieve your goals – Opens the doors to new opportunities – The world will be on your side | – You feel dissatisfied and sad – Lower confidence – More likely to feel depressed – You feel less in control of your life – Negative thoughts zap your strength and excitement for life – Lack of productivity and focus in accomplishing tasks – People around you may be feel drained listening to negativity and may even avoid communication – You feel like everything is against you |
Sure, it’s not easy to always to think positive especially when unforeseen circumstances and difficult times show up in your life. The important think to remember here is that when you make the effort to try and be positive about the situation, you are more likely to come up on top and give yourself an edge (versus if you were encumbered by negative thoughts).
Which Way of Thinking Is “Real”?
The important truth behind it is that neither positive thinking nor negative thinking are more real or true than the other because it is all matter of perception. If you believe that either thoughts are true, then they will take form within your mind (think about the the glass half full or empty example).
“For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”
William Shakespeare
What this means is that your thoughts created your reality. That which you believe in your mind WILL manifest in your emotions, attitudes and eventually even your reality.
With that said, this is great news! Because it also means that we have the power to shape our reality by cultivating a powerful, healthy and positive mind.
Thus our goal each day should be to fill our minds with more positivity and happiness!
Having Negative Thoughts Is Natural
That’s not to say that having negative thoughts is entirely wrong. We need to understand that negative thinking actually sprouts from positive intent.
Yep, you read that right! No matter how hopeless it may seem, always remember that your negative thoughts come from positive intentions. Emotions such as fear, worry, anxiety, sadness, guilt, regret and jealousy make us feel bad and depressed, however these come about because we recognize the positive outcomes that we have yet to achieve.
You Brain Is More Powerful Than You Think
Our brains are created in a way that the more we do something, the more we are programmed to act in that manner automatically. This is how habits and limiting thoughts are formed.
What this means is that the more often you thinking of events in a positive way, you create strong neural connections with your brain that build up over time and enable you to perceive things in a positive manner.
In other words, your brain can be trained to receive and process events in a positive light!
If you are used to interpreting events in a negative way, it’s not too late! You can still reprogram your brain to remove any negative self-beliefs and create a positive reality for yourself.
It may take some effort, but its definitely worth it!
