Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the
crown of the head high, & fill the lungs to the utmost;
drink in the sunshine; greet your friends with a smile, &
put soul into every handclasp.
Do not fear being misunderstood & do not waste a minute
thinking about your enemies. Try to fix firmly in your mind
what you would like to do; & then without veering off
direction, you will move straight to the goal.
Keep your mind on the great & splendid things you would like
to do, & then, as the days go gliding by, you will find
yourself unconsciously seizing upon the opportunities that
are required for the fulfilment of your desire, just as the
coral insect takes from the running tide the element it
needs.
Picture in your mind the able, earnest, useful person you
desire to be, & the thought you hold is hourly transforming
you into the particular individual…
Thought is supreme. Preserve a right mental attitude — the
attitude of courage, frankness, & good cheer.
To think right is to create. All things come through desire
& every sincere prayer is answered. We become like that on
which our hearts are fixed.
Whenever you go out of doors, draw the chin in, carry the
crown of the head high. We are gods in the chrysalis.”
~ Elbert Hubbard
A Sincere Poem of Positive Manifestation
This is a one of the uplifting poems that never fails to motivate me to think positive whenever I revisit it from time to time. I actually came across this poem in Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends & Influence People”. I hope it will inspire you to remain optimistic about life and remain dedicated in the pursuit of the ultimate manifestation of your passions and desires.
Thought is Supreme
The meaning here is clear and simple. Thought is the foundation for all of our earthly manifestations. The very basis and starting point whereby we form our intentions of desire.
The same is true with the Law of Attraction. Isn’t it such a wonderful and comforting perception that the Universe has actually given us complete power to change our reality in the way we see fit? Thought truly reigns supreme.
The beauty of this poem in inspiring us to fill our minds with positive intentions and focus on our desired accomplishments allows these dominating thoughts to nurture and take root in our subconscious mind.
We Become Like That On Which Our Hearts Are Fixed
This is precisely the Law of Attraction in motion. Whatever thoughts we fix in our minds and allow to perpetuate will eventually be manifested in our lives.
We Are Gods In the Chrysalis
This line has sparked a bit of controversy and dissent among some religious people. Some believe it to be blasphemous and a direct challenge to God himself.
I actually beg to differ in my opinion of this. I don’t believe that this final line should discourage any religious person to enjoy this poem in its fullness and to partake in the inspiration that it brings. In fact, I don’t believe that the intention behind the line was meant as a chide or to “throw shade” onto the Christianity.
We have to remember that the words written are in the form of a poem, meant to express with flowery language which is often non-literal. No doubt the words were elegantly crafted and splendidly written by Elbert Hubbard, but were meant to convey a much deeper meaning.
What the phrase really means is that every one of us carries some spark of divinity within ourselves that we have yet to bring to life in its fullness. We are all “Gods” in the figurative sense because we have no limitations to our thoughts, we can achieve anything that we set our minds to, and we can manifest any desire that we want. That is why he says that “thought reigns supreme” and that “to think right is to create”.
I truly admire this sincere and well-written words and am thankful to have a chance to share this masterpiece with you. You have the power to manifest anything that you want, for we are truly “Gods in the making”.
